OVERVIEW:

The UK Expansion Worker visa has taken the place of the former unsponsored sole representative segment under the Representative of an Overseas Business pathway.  This initiative allows entrepreneurs to establish a branchof their existing business in the UK and obtain British residency during the process. 

This visa is part of five new sponsored categories within the Global Business Mobility (GBM) visa framework. These changes aim to revise existing pathways and introduce new ones to support economic development and international trade in the UK following Brexit.

Holders of the UK Expansion Worker visa are authorized to work in the UK for the employer and role specified in their sponsorship certificate. Additionally, they are allowed to engage in voluntary activities and pursue education.

Expansion Workers may also bring their spouse and dependent children to the UK, provided they fulfill the necessary dependant criteria. The visa holder and their family members are permitted to travel to and from the UK as long as their visas are valid.

After setting up the UK office, there is a 2-year period to establish the business. Following the establishment, additional pathways can be added to the Expansion Worker license.
